The next Aalto Online Learning video training is organised in June, 2020. This training week is targeted especially to our new pilots who are doing video production, but we also welcome other people who are interested and would like to participate!

During the training week, we will cover everything from script writing to video presentation skills. This time, the Video Training is organised via Zoom.

If you are a new Aalto Online Learning pilot and planning to create videos at some point of your pilot project, we highly recommend you to participate in at least one of the following workshops.

WORKHOPS:

Tuesday, 2 June, via Zoom

14:00 – 14:45 How To Write a Great Video Script by Yulia Guseva
A poor script is one of the most common problems that lead to non-engaging videos. In this workshop Yulia will give you tips and share the best practices for writing and formatting scripts that will be spoken on camera. You will see examples of good and bad scripts and learn how the teleprompter works with a script.

Wednesday, 3 June, via Zoom

14:00 – 14:45 Workshop on Camtasia with Marika Sarvilahti and Tove Ørsted
Camtasia is an easy to use screen recording and editing program. It can be used for capturing anything on your screen including websites and software with audio, annotations, animations and subtitles. Marika and Tove used Camtasia for an Aalto Online Learning pilot to make short how-to-videos that demonstrate searching and exploring digital cultural heritage collections online. In this workshop they will present the basics of planning and making a video project with Camtasia:

  • Writing a script
  • Planning screen capture video
  • Capturing audio
  • Editing the videos
  • Adding titles, subtitles and effects
  • Sharing the videos

Thursday, 4 June, via Zoom

10:00 – 12:00 1-on-1 Session on Video Presentation Skills with Paul Savage
We all need to improve our communication skills in the virtual world, but where to start?
