Overview

Design with Movements aims at making an online course that combines kinetic/robotic movement with art and design for ARTS students as well as students and teachers at Aalto Junior. Kinetic/robotic movement has long been an important topic not only in engineering but in design and art. The interests keep growing because of today’s emphasis on mobility, transformability and responsive technology. On the other hand, approaching kinetic/robotic movement in a perspective of art and design could provide a cross-disciplinary art and science learning platform for children.

The course will consist of a series key topics and relevant activities using a kinetic design tool called LINKKI as a primary tool as well as other materials and tools. Each lecture will combine practical image/video/text tutorials with an introduction to  theoretical backgrounds following. The forum where users can share their projects and leave feedbacks can be developed alongside for peer learning.
