Overview

This project aims to develop a fully online 3-cr course that covers the foreign language requirements and reduces scheduling problems. Although the course includes a spoken component, it primarily focuses on developing academic reading skills through a reading project. The reading project consists of a variety of activities, which are submitted in a portfolio. The activities also include self-assessment and self-reflection.

Pedagogical methods

The course applies reading comprehension pedagogy to the main project. It also applies micro-learning principles to the materials. Other methods include cooperative learning, peer teaching, communities of inquiry; mainly asynchronous instruction with possible virtual office hours.
