Timeline

Overview

The pilot investigates methods for developing realistic tests particularly for programming courses, but also for other kinds of courses, e.g., in the field of networking. The goal is to create a controlled test situation similar to traditional exams, file allowing the possibilities of modern software, such as development tools for programming, and that way create better and more accurate tests for the particular subject areas. As part of the pilot we have implemented a platform that temporarily takes control over a student laptop machine and allows doing an exam or test on a mass course, for example in a lecture hall. We also evaluate use of the EXAM aquarium as an complementary method for arranging tests.

Platforms and tools

During pilot, own platform for examination is under development. We also use EXAM and TIM as the frontend for the exam.

Pedagogical methods

We apply online course platforms such as TIM, for arranging exam replacements in controlled online environment.

Involved courses

ELEC-A7100 – Basic course in C Programming (5 ECTS)

ELEC-C7241 – Tietokoneverkot (5 ECTS)
